St Ephrem, Pray for Us

His Hermeneuticalness posts this litany of great beauty.

I remember, long and merry ago now, a liturgy for St Ephrem led by my friend the Archimandrite. A thing of power and beauty. Those who thought Celtic worship more accessible and – in some weird way – “relevant” were as those who prefer low-fat spreads to butter. Except without the advantages of long life, as the whole “low fat spreads are good for you” spiel is as bogus as Tony Blair recommending a Middle-East strategy.
